This one has languished a bit and not getting much love but here is the results of a trip to the desert. A quick load up using below MAX from SHARPS data. 18" with a 90 grain Sierra Game King 0.010 off the lands, under mag length of 2.260, Velocity was 2780 over 27 grains of H335 . Target CTC is 0.547 shot in HEAVY mirage inducing the vertical spread at 100 yards. I have 800 of these so it will be nice to try some other powders with this accurate bullet. As I mentioned this load still has some room to go up and the velocity is very good for the short tube and I predict that 2850 or so is reachable. SHARPS was getting 2900 out of an 87 in a 24" tube using 28 grains of the same powder. Greg

Hey Greg,
I am interested in getting a rifle for my daughter - was considering the 25 x 45 in AR 15 platform and thought I would ask how you like it - maybe as compared to the 6 x 45. I am working on a 30 BLK, 264 LBC, and a 223 wylde currently and want to get a 243 LBC 22" in the near future for myself which will probably become my fav ever in ar 15 platform from my research. I have been trying to limit myself to 2 parent cases (grendel and 223/556) so have stayed away from the 6.8 for the time being. Thus the 25 x 45 seemed a logical choice of something that I had not already built. I haven't seen much on BHW 25 x 45 on the forums but it seems to be a pretty nice shooter - do you have any more thoughts on it? do you like the 6 x 45 better?
thx Rob

I have five or six 6X45's and one 25X45. I believe the 6 has better bullet selection and for that it would get my nod in atoss up. Oddly enough I have found the 25's to not step up in speed like one would expect over the 6X45. Given your choice in other chamberings I would go 6X45. I can certainly get the accuracy with either but with my long string of success withe the 6 I would want to not buck the trend. Greg

Thx for the input. I think I will give the 6 x 45 another look.

It's funny that my wife and 2 of my kids have become interested in shooting. I grew up with guns as way of life when I lived in the deepest jungles of Peru. It was a survival thing - protection and food - 8 hour boat trip to the nearest town and no roads anywhere near us. Coming to the states it was just to much of a hassle to get out to hunt much so I never really pursued it in the USA - not that I did not miss it. It was only fair to give my family the opportunity to experience the enjoyment of shooting that I so much enjoyed so I am building a gun for each. You might find the attached picture interesting. It is a picture of me sitting on a very rare black Jaguar (not to be confused with a black panther). It was not our practice to shoot animals like this but it was a life threatening situation. An native Indian man had hunted a deer in the foothills and arrived home late in the evening. Later that night all the animals were pitching a fit. These folks sleep in open thatched roof huts with no wall but with an elevated floor in this case. he woke up, got up to see what was going on - as he looked around, two eyes stared at him out of the darkness - he fired his gun at it as best he could in the dark. The animals settled down and so he went back to bed. When he woke up the next morning the jag was what he found. He put it in his canoe and paddled over to show it to us hoping that we might give him some information on it or an explanation as to why it was black. He was freaked out - not only was it a very dangerous cat in their eyes, but it was also black - they are very superstitious and to him this may as well have been a demon. Poor guy was shaking life a leaf. We assured him there was no problem and that he had done the right thing - no demons needed to be dealt with.
