Now for my questions what bullets did you shoot and what powders and primers did you use? What kind of speeds were you seeing? I'm thinking about shooting either the 55 g bergers or the 55g black hole bullets. Would this be a good flat shooting caliper or would I be better off with a 22-243 shooting 75g-80g bullets? Just seems like the 20 cal would be easier on hides. This will be a dedicated calling rifle to go along with my 6x6.8 at. Just want a very accurate backup rifle that is capable of shooting way out there at coyotes.

Ritch and I both have one. Very minimal load development at this poiny. 55's were around 4300 IIRC. This is one that s good Internet search would pay off on. Just be VERY cautious.

Your 20-250 was shooting 55 g bullets at 4300? Or was that your 22-243? What bullets were you shooting?

Now that was in your 20-250? With a 55 g Berger? What kind of powder are you using and you were getting 4300 fps? What length of barrel? Tell me all you can about this I'm very interested in it. Want to find out the most I can about it.

Looked at my notes instead of my old brain. It was a 40 Nosler. The 55's were in my 20 LBC.
26" Remington brass, Federal LR primer 39.3 RL17 4246 FPS with a little room to go. I shot it enough to get my brass made and pulled the barrel. The groups were around 5/8. Based on that I would feel comfortable at 4175 or so with a 55. I'd want to try some slower powders.

Did you have to neck turn your brass? I'm thinking about the black hole 55g with lapua brass on a 24" barrel. Was thinking it would be more like 3700fps I guess.

What powder would you recommend for the 55? What twist is your barrel?

It is 1:10. I'd start with the RL17 and use that as my base powder then I'd try one faster and two slower. I'd develop it in 3 shot groups. This is a barrel burner. If I get 800 rounds it will be because of my good clean living. I didn't turn these but I probably will when I get the barrel spun back on.

Ok what are part numbers for the dies you use and the bushings?

Ok what are part numbers for the dies you use and the bushings? Just a 22-250 Redding Type S FL die. I went down to a 239 bushing. If I neck turn I will have to adjust accordingly. Different brass may require different bushings as all brass is not the same thickness. I use Wilson bushings. Sinclair should have everything you need. Greg

So you fl size every time I was thinking about getting 3 piece die set with the neck sizer body die and the seater wouldn't that do the job too or do you think fl sizing every time is the way to go?

NS only is fine but I couldn't see any treason to buy the die. You can get buy with very little bump on shoulders with a FL and I'm not overly concerned with getting the tightest fit I can. I suppose I could have bought the NS only and used a standard 22-250 as a bump die as at some point it will need to be done. Greg
