Is the 1x8 twist to fast for the mid weight bullets in 6mm on a 24 inch barrel, also does anyone know what the gas block diameter is on a bull barrel ar barrel from bhw? Also what is the difference between 6mmar and 243lbc? If I want to start reloading for 243 lbc where should I start. Starting grains? Does anyone have a reloading guide to this cartridge? Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance. Actually a 9 twist is ideal for most bullets in the LBC but an 8 is not too fast.. Mid weight as defined as? This cartridge shines at 95's and below. 105's are usable with some 110's being to long for magazine length though you could window the magazine. The trade off above 95 is not worth it if you run the numbers. BHW bull is 0.936 for the gas block. Industry standard there. 6MMAR and 243 LBC are ballistic twins. There are slight differences in case shape in the shoulder. They wer developed at the same time but Ritch who did the LBC actually had one in operation first. If you want to load for it your first step will be dies. Either a bushing set up or the customs that are out there. Ritch is a source for some new Hornadys that will be around in about ten weeks. I would suggest you look at 6 PPC data and use that MAX there as a starting point and moving up to lower 6BR levels. The loads pretty much will run from 24-30 grains depending on bullet and powder. You have to match them to the weight. A good informational point is to read the posts here and on AR15ARMORY.com about the cartridge It is being used by quite a few shooters. I've got data that I share when a fellow buys a barrel. There is a learning curve on it for most guys but it is not too steep. Greg

Hey Greg, I want to shoot the whole range of bullets for the 6mm from the lightest to the 108grain, should I order 1x8 or 1x9? Thanks

A1:9 will work well with the bullets you mention with plenty of 105 documentation by another shooter I talk with. Realistically we have found no benefit in exceeding 95's for use in this cartridge. If it's long range target a 95 SMK has the extra velocity to smoke a 105. The reason being the decreased case capacity with the big bullet and with ogive placement some just aren't usable. Everyone has dreams of shooting those .6 BC bullets in this but it ain't happening in an AR unless it's single shot and loaded LONG.
I use a Forster lathe type and Ritch, IIRC, uses a Wilson.
