I am thinking of a 20" 6.8 SPC II, I don't want/need a muzzle device so it would get a target crown. I'm just not sure if it should be a mid length gas system or rifle length? Would I have to have the rifle length gas port opened up to run reliably and also an adjustable gas block for either length?
Thanks Joe

Rifle will do the job nicely. I like adjustable blocks because it is much more flexible.
You'd have to shoot it but most of the ports are large enough to start.

I have an 18" with mid gas. It's overgassed with the stock port. Runs great with an adjustable block though. You'll be happier with the rifle length on a 20".
