Any remedy if ease for trimming. I'm just beginning to set my dies, using new hornady custom. I primarily use a lee stud trimmer, and a Redding . Looking for a quick repeatable method for the A30. Are there any trim dies out there that would work?

Are there any trim dies out there that would work? No real trim die out there. I use a Forster lathe type when I trim mine. Not much is coming off and I use a power screwdriver on the shaft. I suspect the WFT could be adapted to it but I have not really looked at them enough to say definitively yea or nae. That is one of the vagaries of shortening up any case as no commercial stuff is readily available for the odd lengths. I could send a couple cases in to Gracey and have a case holder custom done to do it under power quickly but realistically for the amount of brass most of us use it is not an issue. Greg

Yup, I have a Redding 1400 IIRC, I've already considered I need to upgrade to a corded or cordless screwdriver. I just wondered is there a specific oal that someone came up with that if you trimmed 6.8 before you expanded it , afterwards it would come close or at the 1.615-1.620?? If I came up with a efficient method to accomplish that Any remedy if ease for trimming. I'm just beginning to set my dies, using new hornady custom. Nope. On this one you want to trim after expansion. Consistency is always a good thing. I'll check my notes on trim length in the AM.
Once my cases are formed I trim to 1.615. My MAX established length on a case is 1.20 for me. You can trim back to 1.610 but every little bit of neck helps IMHO.

I do a two step method for trimming my American 30 cases after forming them. First I trim them to about 1.620 with a Harbor Freight 2" cut off saw. Then I finish them to 1.615" with my Lymans trimmer. I need to see if I can modify a small piece of aluminum "U" channel to make a repeatable jig like the Squirreldaddy 300 Blackout jig for the cut off saw. Thanks, Glenn

Finally got my A30 put together, I sized by first setting a 30-30 die to expand just the neck, it helped out a lot in that the neck was a tad bigger , I don't know the exact measurements but I'd guess a few hundred thousand , anyway it was that much looser fit over my 30 cal trimmer pilot so trimming wasn't as bad. I set the herret die to the fireformed case and there it'll stay. I cast so I used a 129grn pointed gas check based round (noe mold) for forming, I originally bought for the 7.62x39. 10 grains of unique worked out fine. Dies set, chambering. Next load 125grn ballistic tip. I have most powders mentioned here for it so I'll do a lil testing. I like this round Nope. On this one you want to trim after expansion.
