What neck tension are you running in your 243 LBC . I 'm using the CH4D dies, and they give me .0035. I'm getting .0005 reward bullet movement which puts the bullet on the powder column. Thinking of getting the Redding S die, and .265 bushing. My load round dia. is .2695.

Thinking of getting the Redding S die, and .265 bushing. My load round dia. is .2695. I routinely run 0.003 tension with my bushings. Work hardening of the fired brass may require a step up, 0.001, to deal with the spring back. 0.0005 is pretty minimal set back. If you are getting that I wouldn't worry too much about it. I just wouldn't rechamber that same round over an over again. The bullets setting on the powder column is a non-issue as most loads do that perform best at between 95-100% fill so bullets touching/intruding is pretty much a fact of life. I don't think I've ever loaded an A-30 that was not doing that. You could call CH4D and have them send you an expander that is 0.001 smaller and deal with it that way. It would be cheaper than the Redding set up. Of course you could dress down your current button. The use of a bushing lets you have a bit more flexibility as with varying thickness es of brass as the regular sizer will make a difference in tension in the long run. The hole will be pretty consistent but the tension can be all over the place because of that. Greg

I've already turned the expander down. No difference with the expander out of the die with it in. With my AR my COL is 2.320 i'm setting the 103 ELD-X at 2.300. I'm using PP 2000-MR. Can't find AR Comp or CFE 223 locally. What i'm finding is no pressure signs with a full case of powder.

They only squeeze down so much and if they are not overdone like many standard dies the squeeze will be set up to be adequate with most brass and if you run into thin stuff like the FC in 6.8 you won't get that tension you want. I have LBC dies from CH4D and Hornady and they both have done well for me but I drift back to the Reddings on my gnats butt rounds. What speeds are you getting and accuracy? Greg

I'm using Starline brass and CH4D dies. At 31 grns i'm getting 2657 av, 24. es, 8.4 sd. That load was at 3/4 MOA @ 100, havn't tried it 200. That's where i usually test my load, but weather conditions weren't condusive for that.

At 500 the adjustment is only about a quarter minute give or take. Plus the price is a bit more reasonable and they are usually more available. Not that money is ever a concern but the last is pretty important with all these panic buying episodes. Greg

Have some on order to play with. Where i'm at a 600 yd shot is extreme. You darn well better know whats beyond your intended target if you make that shot. Most every thing i do is within 400.
