I have searched all over this forum and I'm almost suprised that I haven't seen any talk of MK12 clones? I am building my 3rd AR now and decided to profile it after the SPR. I am patiently waiting to hear back from BHW about a MK12 profile barrel.
What are your thoughts, ideas, current builds?

I asked Carl on your behalf and here is what he had to say:
"We currently have no drawings on this barrel, nor have we been asked to produce it."

Yeah that seems to be the email I recieved back I am currently trying to dig as deep as I can to find a profile drawing of the MK12 barrel. Hopefully I can come up with something when I get off work today. There are a few good options out for this barrel already, although I am really looking for a barrel with the polygon rifling...

Hello asubimmer,
I have an SPR clone in 5.56. Great shooting stick, it is more accurate than I am.
I believe that if you look at the specifications of the SPR you'll see the BHW standard profile barrels are the same or very near to the same contour as the Government SPR. On the other hand, if you are looking for something that resembles more to the DPMS Mk12 then a BHW fluted bull barrel would be the contour you are looking for.
Now if we could just make up our mind on the caliber....

Another question while I am researching...
I have a Vltor low pro gas block for this build. This will be my 3rd AR build but my 1st upper assy that I've built. Anyway, the low pro looks like the gas tube would be slightly lower to the barrel? Do they take a different gas tube or is this just an illusion? I've never noticed variations being sold, just rifle mid or carbine length tubes, so I assume not.

Asubimmer you are correct in that there are only the three standard lengths. The gas block is not any more lower for the tube to travel.

the low pro looks like the gas tube would be slightly lower to the barrel? Do they take a different gas tube or is this just an illusion? It might look like it is closer to the barrel but if I understand correctly it is just an optical illusion; they are all supposed to be at standardized lengths. To answer your question, you must use the gas tube required for the length you are building (Pistol, carbine, mid, or rifle length). I hope this answered your question. Regards, Erick

ok great! Thanks for the help. I was pretty sure it was just an illusion but it doesn't hurt to make sure... I believe the profile I am looking for is the 2nd one down? This is the diagram on the OPS collar and brake, the 12th model supressor.

Finally had time to email back and see if they can cut something for me. Cross your fingers! I need to order a barrel soon so I can get the rifle finished soon

Getting pretty close now! I have everything but my bcg and the handguard here, well other than the BHW barrel I can't wait to get everything together when the final parts arrive...
