Almost had my first kill with the 6.5 PCC, he was about 250 yards out when I got him in my scope, then my daughter says, "don't shoot it dad, what did it do to you" so I went and got him, chunked him in the bed of the truck, and took him down to the creek. He was cutting threw my pasture, heading from my neighbors pond, over to mine.

Wonder how many fish Mr. Tuttle cleaned out of the two ponds. Amazing how aggressive they are for being a turtle.

I hit one of those about that size that was about 75yds downrange. There was a creek crossing the range I was at and it was up on the bank. Touched off the 6.5Grendel loaded with 120grSMK and that sucker flew up about 3 feet in the air!!! Crazy. I had to do it. I was afraid someone would get bit when they were walking downrange.

I shot many that were huge in the 70's in the creeks of Oklahoma. A 52 grain MK down through the neck will make a huge turtle balloon. Greg

My parents have a pond about 1000yds from their house. Back 20yrs ago the pond was hit real hard with those snappers. My brother and I went on turtle patrol one weekend that we were back. We took our old target 22 and would wait until they would stick their head above water and aim for the tip of the nose and squeeze the trigger. It would take the nose off and they would go down for a couple of minutes and then come swimming for shore. Once on shore we would finish them and throw them in a cooler with ice. By the end of the weekend we had 5 big coolers full. We had a place by where we worked that bought and processed turtles and fish and then sold the meat. I brought in the 5 coolers and they weighed them and I walked out with $450.00 The next time we were home I brought in another $300.00 We had a blast and got some good money out of it.

If I could have gotten paid for them in Oklahoma I'd of made John Wayne in Hatari look like a tree hugger in the harvesting of game.
