I have measured the distance to the lands using a Hornady OAL guage, 123 gr Amax bullets in my BHW 264LBC. I am getting 1.790; measured to the OGIVE. I tried a Sierra bullet and got a very similar result. If I back the bullet length down .010 and measure the total cartridge length I get a COAL of near 2.365 which is considerably longer than what I am seeing in any load reference materials; I think i need to be down to 2.250ish. I am running into a weird situation when i use the tool to measure. As i push the bullet into the throat I hit some minimal resistance at around 1.600. If i push a bit harder it then firmly snugs up to get the 1.790 length. I have used this tool frequently on my bolt guns and it seems to be very accurate in them. I am not sure if something is wrong with my chamber, or maybe I have the wrong load data.

The poly rifling will come in to play to some extent. Also different bullets will show you a different COL as you start measuring. My 20 LBC has a COL of .100 between various bullets when I seat them out to touch the lands. I have found very few AR's that I can touch the lands with when I seat to MAX magazine length. I would load some up at 2.255 if I had enough bullet in the case and shoot a few at lower charge levels. I bet you will be astounded how it does.
