It will be a Custom caliber in a 6.5 Grendel or 264 LBC case necked up to 7mm. You will be able to shoot the same mags and bolt as the Grendel/264lbc.

Wsmbuck, Thanks for taking the time to explain how the 7lbc works. Would this work OK for deer and what would be the workable range? Any ideas on cost of conversion?
Once again thanks for educating me on AR platform calibers.

Yes it will be a Great rd for deer, cost shouldnt be much more then a everyday caliber, but you would have to buy custom dies which will cost extra.

Ok could you expand on a couple of things. What LBC stand for? In size what does a 7 LBC commerially compare to? Dies would be a custom order? Would my AR-15 lower work or does it require AR-10 frame? Thanks

LBC stands for Les Bear Custom. As far as what would be close in size, probably the 7mm BR. and yes you will need custom dies.

Sorry there has not been any made, as far as I know. Also, I know there has not been a reamer ordered for it. The only way Black Hole would have done one is if a customer had there own reamer.

it has been done by a fellow named Kurt Buchert. Hedesigned the 7.62x40wt as well as several based on the 6.5 grendal case. The 7mm is called the 7mm ARK. I will buy a reamer if some figures how to get loading dies and the specs of the round

I will buy a reamer if some figures how to get loading dies and the specs of the round Dies are easy. Just get with Hornady or Huntington, send them a reamer print, a blank check and get next years calender out for the countdown. PTG should be able to make you a reamer in a few months time. One thing you might do is hunt down Buchert and find his sources. He might well be able to cut the wait down by 50%. Greg

I can't do anything to print. I have no idea where to start. But I am an engineering major and want to learn . I can give you a rough idea how to go about doing this. Call Black Hole and see if they will make you a barrel using your reamer. They may even make you some kind of a deal there. Talk with Carl or Andy. Call Pacific Tool and Gauge Talk with Dave Kiff explain what you want. Make sure you tell him it is going in an AR 15. If you decide to go ahead with your project, tell Dave you need a reamer drawing ASAP. When you get your drawing you can do 1 of 3 things. # 1 Send it to Hornady and wait. 6 months is the norm. # 2 Send the drawing to CH4D and wait about the same. # 3 Call Redding and ask them to open a 6.5 Grendel Full Length S die to 284. #3 would be my choice. For a seater die I would use a Hornady 7mm-08 seating die. They can be bought for about $20.00. Then sit back and wait and try not to think about you project to much. After you get the reamer, start getting the parts together for your build. The whole process should take about 4-6 months.
