I chamfer every new case no matter what it is as part of my pre-loading brass prep. The necking down with bushings almost demands it. One other thing I've learned was that WILSON bushings have a bit of a lead in chamfer compared to the Reddings that are more squared up to the hole.

Q for you Greg. My 20 inch chambered blank in 6mm x 6.8 should be here this week and then it goes to my guy for profiling. I will be using rifle gas and to save a little time, do you have access to information regarding the gas port size? I usually pick a load that I think will work then start at .060” and go up in number size until it works. But it takes time and it’s damned cold outside right now. Any information about gas port size will keep my old butt indoors reloading instead of running in and out sizing the gas port. Thanks in advance.

That's one aspect I have no idea on. A call to BHW might be fruitful.

BHW (CRA) got back with me on the gas port size. For a 20" barrel, rifle gas, .875" at the gas block, they told me a gas port of .100" is what they use. Good enough for me. Barrel is back, ready to go.
Now, I have looked through every single one of these posts and never is there mentioned the maximum case length and the trim to length.
Greg, would you please give me that information? I need the maximum case length allowed by the BHW/CRA chamber and the trim to length also if they recommend a length. I normally go .010 under maximum length on high pressure rounds, .005 on low pressure rounds.
I formed 50 cases, no losses, and right now the cases are 1.680 + or - .002" so they need to be evened up. Max length on the 6.8 case, according to Hornady, is 1.686 with a TTL of 1.676.
Thanks.

Thank you very much. For those that might be asking the same thing, Max is 1.686", TTL is 1.676" for the 6.8 SPC case.

What a barrel! Thomas at Paladin Machine Shop Service turned the chambered blank into a work of art. I tried a few powders but IMR 8208 XBR gave great accuracy with acceptable velocity. In regards to bullets, the Hornady 90 gr. ELD-X seated to 2.295” and Barnes 80 gr. TTSX seated to 2.312 were both half MOA shooters for 5 shots at 100 yards. A little ¼ turn crimp with the Lee FCD destroyed accuracy, tripling group size with both bullets. Don’t even want to talk about the Barnes 90 gr. TTSX-XLR. Nothing under an inch, most around 1.5”, some as big as 3”.
As Charlotte said, sort of, That’s Some Pig Barrel.
