Ok, here is my idea.
What is the difference in POI of 5.56 and 6x6.8 at 100 yards?
Anyone using a QD optic mount with multiple uppers?
I am thinking with two Black Hole barrels and free float tubes the windage difference should be very small.
If this is possible it would really help to convince me to purchase a higher quality optic for use on my AR. Currently using a POS Bushnell that came on a bottom dollar Wal-Mart .30-06.

Joe I'm not sure what you want. POI in either case is where you put it. They have no bearing on each other. I am surmising, notice I didn't use assume, that you want to take one scope and move it from gun to gun. The difference could be minimal to horrendous. If you want to try it the only way I see it is feasible, getting close but not on the dot, would be to get a good set of high dollar QD mounts, like the Talley's, sight in the gun and note the settings. Now move it to rifle #2 and sight in and note the settings. You should, theoretically, be able to move it from rifle to rifle making the requisite sight adjustments. It will be CLOSE but probably not perfect. I have heard of the QD's being dead nuts over and over again but when you throw in the unknown of the scope adjustments tracking or not you run a risk of less than perfect return to zero. I agree glass its expansive. I am faced with that issue and buy two or three when I can on sale. The best bang, , for your buck, IMHO, are the Buckmaster SF scopes. A 4.5X14 for about $250 and a 6X18 for around $325.00 If you get lucky the VORTEX scopes at Cameraland go on sale. I picked up two 6.5X20's for, IIRC, $249.00 each and they are doing well on my match guns. Adjustments are crisp and repeatable and the glass is very nice. Just some thoughts. BTW I swapped a VORTEX off a 223 BHW bull barrel Saturday, onto a 6X68 BHW Standard Weight for an F-class match today as my 24 X Leupold gave up the Parallax Ghost on Friday in practice. The scope was off one inch left and three inches low at 100 yards going from dead on 223 50 grain VMAX to the 75 VMAX 6 MM"s for my match. It took 9 minutes of elevation to go from 100 to 500 yards in the match toady with that same 6X68 load. Greg Greg

Thank you for the information. What I was asking was exactly that. Had someone swapped optics from a 5.56 BHW barrel onto a 6x6.8 and using the same point of aim, noted the difference in point of impact. The windage difference is surprising to me. I would not have expected it to be much at all. Barrel harmonics and nodes of vibration are a topic for another day.
9 minutes of elevation from 100 to 500 yards seems pretty good to me. I have not yet shot at 500 yards but look forward to as soon as I can get to a range that will support that distance.

It is as simple as is the upper square to the axis of the bore or is the rail absolutely flat and speced the same as the other. The devil is in the details. Nine minutes is not much as it is only 45" way out there. I shot a match last month that wind correction was 3 MOA on some shots. It was not a steady wind!! Greg

I got a Burris P.E.P.R mount to put on my 6x68 to move between multiple AR uppers www.burrisoptics.com/arpepr.html IT is Q.D. I only have one AR done but it is fairly repeatable on taking it off of the rifle and putting it back on. If you had a scope with resettable zero you could figure out which rifle shot lowest, set the zero and then just dope the other rifle.

Back from the dead. My laptop crashed right before Christmas and I haven't posted here in a while.
I finally decided on an optic for my AR. The Bushnell has been relegated to 10/22 duty and I have a freshly mounted Redfield Revolution 4-12.
First trip to the range with the new glass is this morning. Cold and windless, should be a good day to shoot.
I cannot believe the difference in brightness and clarity with this new glass. I think the Revolution is close to the best glass for the money that I have been able to find. Hope it shoots as good as it looks. I could not resist the Designed, Machined, and Assembled in Oregon either.

my brother has a redfield and it is very good glass for the money. I was very surprised.
they are on my short list for affordable scopes.
good luck with it and let us know how it performs.
