That is awesome news!!!
I am not a thumper expert by any means but let me make a suggestion to you and the BHW staff....
If you can make a 450 bushmaster with a .458 bore vs a .452 bore, even if this is optional, you will create a huge opportunity for those that are tired of buying Hornady bullets or swagging all the rest.
Bushmaster and Remington (same group as DPMS) are well known for making amazing contributions but their marketing 'gurus' also shoot themselves in the foot many times. The 450 brass is very attractive in many ways but what is killing the option is the .452 bullets. Who is killing the 30RAR? Remington is. They might contribute to the killing of their own 450 as well.
But there is hope! with the smart folks and AR lovers out there to save those babies!
Only for me you will get a couple of orders but I know a large crew that will follow.
Just some simple thoughts in case you want to consider to addressing a clear pain point and provide a solution to the consumers.

So when you buy factory ammo with standard .452 bullets they will rattle down the barrel because you have a .458 bore and the accuracy will suck that is a good deal? . And then you have non-standard rifle on your hands that will ALWAYS be a hand load only proposition. Right? Greg

No I will have a 450 Bushmaster shooting 458 and 457 bullets where there is a huge assortment of bullets shooting of a nice 458 bore and it will be a breeze to load w/o the need to swag the bullets like many are doing right now due the lack of good assortment in the 452 department that is killing what otherwise could be a very nice long lasting round. good deal right?

My sister in law uses a 450 bushmaster for pig hunting, does the job very well. uses specific magazines. The bullets single stack into the magazine and they do rattle a little. Reloading the 450 was a headache. You will want to have a 45/70 crimp die modified to use for the 450. Factory Hornady ammo does suffer from bullet movement inside the magazine due to recoil.
I have no first hand experience with the 458socom, however I do know, any ar15 magazine is said to work with zero modification. This to me is a plus.

The best way to get a .458 bore is to use a SOCOM. The 450 does just fine the way it is. I own one, so I can speak from experience. Also I have not had any problems reloading the 450. I use Hornady dies, and have yet to have a bullet move from recoil. But I have never shot a factory loaded round out of my rifle.

My sister in law never needed to shoot more then 1 round when pig hunting, so, she always had a magazine full of ammo, and just added 1 round on top of the ones already in the magazine. After a bunch of slain pigs, for whatever reason, my brother thought to unload the magazine. The bullets had creeped into the case, i dont know the exact measurements but it was enough to cause my brother to be worried.

I like a straight case.
......
humm... the 450 interesting....
Many shooters say no issues w/o crimping but many others also report a decline in accuracy when crimping. Probably a light crimp is the best.

I am shooting factory ammo out of mine now till I get a set of dies and haven't had any trouble what so ever from the factory ammo.

The chamber would be to small to accept .458 bullets.

Good deal! Hopefully, the 450 Bushmaster barrels will be available in a couple different contours and lengths. I'd like to see one in the lightest contour possible and still be safe and durable.
Making the barrels available with a headspaced bolt would be a real plus. This bolt should include the right extractor. The bolt doesn't need to be assembled. Just all the right parts to make the bolt cartridge specific.
So let the prototyping begin! I'm ready to build!
